What are Official MUGs?

Macintosh computers from Apple Inc. have been around for almost three decades and have managed to gather a great number of fans across the world. With so many using Apple’s products users united and formed groups even in its earliest days and have formed what is now known as MUGs or Macintosh user groups.

Mac user groups consist of people who work with Macintosh computers, operating systems or find use for other Apple created software and hardware related to or belonging to the Mac family. The people forming these groups are interested in Macintosh and are willing to share, teach and learn information about it with other users.

There are more than 800 user groups in the world and the number of members ranges from under 30 people in smaller areas or cities to groups that have 1000 members or more. Official MUGs around the world are registered with Apple in order for participants to become part of a worldwide group of Mac lovers and for them to be rewarded for their loyalty.

Official Mac user groups have many benefits that derive from the Apple mega corporation. Users can gain access to exclusive software and hardware at special money saving prices from many companies. Volunteering possibilities are offered for those interested and official group members have the chance to get involved in the community. Apart from this, being part of a user group allows members to meet new people, interact, make friends and business contacts.

Official MUGs get access to other user groups around the world through Apple and are able to communicate with larger audiences in order to establish meetings and new and interesting locations for all. Official MUG meetings are held by independent organizations in various locations and participants of other groups can attend to MUG meetings held in other countries or areas.

All of this is what it means to be in an official MUG.
