Macintosh personal computers have an enormous fan base in today’s technologically advanced world. Millions of people spread all over the globe have a Mac and have been using it for many years and, chances are, will continue on using them after every update and major release of the operating system.
Starting out in the late 1990s to attack the primarily Microsoft Windows dominated market the Mac computers produced by Apple grew to gain tremendous popularity well into the 2000s. In advertising campaigns over the years, the Mac has been presented as a more capable and user friendly machine than those existing on the market. The aggressive advertising shows both advantages of Mac itself but disadvantages of other systems as well.
The market share of the Mac OS has fluctuated over a 10 year period, but statistics usually show an increase in sales and a bigger user base annually, even though it can be smaller in some years. But the fact is that Mac has remained one of the top picks for individuals eager to buy a new personal computer.
With sales all over the world, every continent now has a large amount of Mac users, probably in every country in the world, but North America hold the biggest numbers when it comes to Macintosh enthusiasts. Various Mac User Groups have been created to unite those that live in the same geographical regions.
Apple.com features an entire section for these user groups and encourages more to join with promotional offers, discount merchandise and exclusive material. And even though the U.S.A certainly has the most such user groups, Mac fans have gathered from locations worldwide. Oceania and Australia appear to be the second region with most Mac users, followed by Europe in third place.
South America has come together to form many Mac user groups as well. Every country, from Argentina, to Brazil, to Chile, Peru, Colombia and Venezuela all have shown increased numbers in Mac sales and buyers have joined or formed new user groups along the years. All though not in numbers are large as those of North America, the South Americans have gathered in bulk to ask questions, get and provide answers, share and converse about everything Mac related. Numerous sites have been created, like LatinMUG.com where individuals all over Latin America search for or write about news concerning Mac.
The internet provides the means for anyone who has ever possessed a Macintosh machine to become a part of many virtual communities that are more numerous as the countries in the world. User groups are a perfect place to gather people who share the same interest and love for Mac.
